We had another awesome week of learning at HTe! We continued with our "Word Party" activities and even launched some new Math Exploration Centers! They are beginning to read more sight words with fluency and are continuing their work with addition and representing numbers. On Friday, our Robotics Club led an assembly kicking off our first ever HTe Engineering Week. During this week, we will investigate problems through the lens of an Engineer. We will solve problems, build prototypes, and integrate Engineering with literacy! It will be a very exciting week. To get our students thinking like Engineers, our Robotics Club led them in some "Body Engineering" activities. Here is a group of Kinders and Third Graders simulating a washing machine: The following Engineering Design Learning Principles will guide our projects during Engineering Week:
Look out for my pictures of Engineering Week next week! Warmest Regards,

Hello Lovely Kinder Families! We have had an awesome week back. Our Kinders are having a blast with our WORD PARTY activities. This week we revisited our work with short a beginning with the -at word family. We brainstormed a list of -at words and practiced blending ("sounding out") and segmenting (breaking apart each specific sound) them. We did word matches, sight word searches, and partner reading. All of these activities strengthen their early literacy skills and build their confidence as readers. Please make sure to have your child read their books to you when they are sent home. They are very excited and proud of their work. Check out our Kinders singing our sight word "I" song. You can find the song on this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=unwwXSEBxD0 We are currently in need of volunteers to support our afternoon Exploration time. If you are available to volunteer MTThF from 12:45-1:30, please email as soon as possible. Thank you so much!
Warmest Regards, Mrs. Rosemarie Hello Lovely Kinder Families! Welcome back! I am so excited to begin an awesome 2013 with your beautiful children. I hope you all have had a restful holiday break with your families. It was wonderful time for my family and I to slow down, enjoy each other, and set our intentions for the new year! I am definitely well-rested and look forward to another Kindergarten investigation!
What an amazing Winter Exhibition! Caterpillar Cafe (the Exhibition and Fundraiser) was an absolute success! The room transformation was incredible, the children were prepared and looked sharp, and it would not have been possible without the help of the following people:
